INFORMATION & SUPPORT
Assisted Dying
Information, choice and support at the end of life.
Assisted dying is a legal end-of-life option in New Zealand for people who meet the requirements of the End of Life Choice Act 2019.
Franklin Hospice respects each person’s right to make informed choices about their care. Our role is to continue supporting patients and whānau with compassion, dignity and respect, whatever choices they make at the end of life.
OUR ROLE
We’re Here to Support You
If assisted dying is something you are thinking about, you can talk with your GP, specialist or Franklin Hospice team.
Our team can provide information when asked and can continue supporting you and your whānau with your palliative care, symptom management, emotional support and other hospice services.
Exploring assisted dying does not mean you have to stop receiving hospice care or support.
WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE
Your Care Still Matters
Franklin Hospice remains here to care for you and support the people who matter to you.

GOOD TO KNOW
You Don’t Need to Make Any Decisions Today
Asking questions or requesting information about assisted dying does not commit you to any particular decision.
You may want time to talk with your healthcare team, whānau or people who are important to you. Franklin Hospice can continue supporting you throughout those conversations.
Information on this page is general information only. Eligibility for assisted dying is determined through the formal process established under New Zealand law.
