The End of Life Choices Act

On 7th November 2021, the End of Life Choices Act comes into effect.  This means that from that date, assisted dying will be legal in New Zealand subject to certain criteria being met.  You can read more on this here and here.

At Franklin Hospice, we recognise that seeking assisted dying is a matter of personal choice and we respect that.  For our patients who may be considering this as an option, we will not be providing this service, nor will we advise you how best to make your decision but we will refer you to an appropriate service.

Regardless of your decision we will continue to support you, our patient and your family.
